Novotrade, founded in 1983 in Budapest by Hungarian organizations to obtain foreign currency, began in computing before turning to video games. After 1989, the company became private and expanded internationally. During this period, the studio developed several notable games, including the Ecco the Dolphin series on Mega Drive, earning a strong reputation in the industry. In 1996, Novotrade was renamed Appaloosa Interactive. After a prominent stint on Dreamcast with Ecco the Dolphin: Defender of the Future and its canceled sequel Ecco II: Sentinels of the Universe, two games that fully exploited the console’s power, the company ceased operations in 2006.

Regarding Ecco II: Sentinels of the Universe for Dreamcast: two working prototypes of the unreleased game by Appaloosa Interactive exist. However, their original configurations present some issues. They are available in GD-I format only.
