Time Stalkers Dreamcast prototype release
Time Stalkers, also known as Climax Landers in Japan, is a role-playing video game released in 1999 on Dreamcast.
The game published by Sega was developed by Climax Entertainment. The game brings crossover aspects from several Climax Entertainment games.
Time Stalkers on Dreamcast is a role-playing game that draws you into a mysterious world of strange lands and winding mazes. Play as Sword and discover the origins of your world. The quest leads the hero to use weapons and magic spells in turn-based combat, with each success gaining experience and at the same time becoming more powerful.
Time Stalkers (Apr 11, 2000 prototype) dreamcast:
-
The 50 Hz or 60 Hz selection menu is basic (without music).
-
The option menu is buggy.
-
The font in the Load Game menu is incorrect.
-
There are translation issues.
-
The lines of dialogue, in the bubbles, are sometimes on 1 line instead of two.
-
The dialogues can go outside the text box.
-
In the inventory menu, for example by choosing Item, "View Current Equipped Items" goes out of the box reserved for it. We find this difference in other options of the inventory menu.
-
In the inventory menu, choosing Status, missing symbols like ":" or "/".
-
Some boxes, for example when the game asks us if we want to enter a dungeon, are larger.
-
A debug menu is present, it is documented below (database etc.)
The documented debug menu:
With Pad A: START - Scroll down to DEBUG and you will have the option to change the following:

-
The debug menu is still present, even above for its documentation.
-
The sidebar in Load Game looks larger than the one in the retail version.
-
The colors are less vivid in the cutscenes. It's darker at times (to be confirmed).
-
We are 1 month away from the final version dated September 20, 2000.
-
This would be build Version 1.009. The final build is version 1.003, it's surprising.
-
The photos below show the progress of the development between the 2 builds.
-
I had problems extracting the GD-R, it may be that the dump is not done correctly.
